So I went back to check out Quizilla...

I figured I should start posting in my LJ, hm? :] As in actual entries. I used to update my journal regularly on DA, but I decided to keep that for art only.
Now that that's out of the way...
I stumbled upon Quizilla back in 2003 when it was still at its very humble origins. There were so many fun quizzes to take, some that were very original and oh-my-god-those-picture-results-are-awesome kinds of things.
And then, a few months later, I found my first ever "Would an Angel, Demon or Pure Evil fall for you?" second-person adventure type quiz. If you guys have ever been on Quizilla, you know what I'm talking about. It was one of the first and most popular ones of its kind, written by icemakesyoumelt, who became famous on Quizilla at the time.
Needless to say, when I read it, I fell in love with that type of story. I quickly sought more and was delighted to find that many people were writing you-plus-5-random-supernatural-guys stories like icemakesyoumelt and my favorites list promptly filled up. Keep in mind, I was 12 years old (the perfect age to get trapped into that fad), and had typical pre-teen self-esteem issues, especially after my mother had me cut my hair short so that I could be mistaken for a lanky boy (also making me weep over my flat chest).
It was pretty sickening, I can tell you. The vampire fad came in next, with Lestat in tow (this was pre-Twilight after all), then the anime ones (dear God, Shesshomaru... I'm sorreeeeeeh... >/////<).
I had about... 4 accounts over the course of 4 years and yes, I wrote my own cheesy romance fics about pirates. Dunshunmekthxbai.
When I was about 14, I grew out of it, thankfully. I became bored with Quizilla, and trying to churn out fics in timed demand with my readers' whims. And then, a year later, I discovered Deleterius on Livejournal.
It was making fun of the exact kind of stuff I used to read and gobble up like a typical tween (it makes me cringe, oh God, it does!) and some of the sporks made me laugh so hard that I had to join! I don't spork fics as often as I should, but I do my best. :]
About half an hour ago, I went on Quizilla on a whim to see how much things on the site had changed. Of course, there was the new layout, the games, the ads, etc... But then I went on the Highest Rated and Most Popular Stories lists and I saw that things had degenerated. All they had on there were those porny romance stories and fanfics. For Pete's sake, half of them have no grammar (I admit I used to read the ones lacking grammar and didn't care back then. I just wanted mah tween pr0nz). Same titles like, "I am engaged... To a Vampire Prince!?? Part 25" and "A Date with Robert Pattinson - Will He Won't He? Chapter 36". I think it's gotten WORSE since the emergence of Twilight GAAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrghghwq@#!$(#@(#%!!!!!!111creampuff
I went back to one of my old accounts and looked up some of the stories I used to love. I re-read them and couldn't help but cringe. I feel like hopping back into the past during my early teens and slap my younger self.
Present me: "WTF is wrong with you!?"
Past me: "But those fictional menz are teh HAWT! D:"
Present me: "GODDAMN NO!!!! Go read some Jane Austen!"
That's how I think it'd go. At least I went through that phase in my tweens and am not one of those lingering fangirls who refuse to let go of the past.
I'm not going back on Quizilla, unless there's a radical reformation. PSSSSSHHHH whachoo talkin' bout, Silver? Of course there won't be, those shitfics are what keep Quizilla afloat! THERE'S ALWAYS Blogthings! :D
